Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Kathmandu

Fly from the UK into Kathamandu where you will be met by our concierge and transferred directly to your 4-star hotel in the centre of Thamel, Kathmandu. Please note flights usually arrive in the late morning although schedules can change.

Day 2Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Take your first full day in Kathmandu to breathe in the culture and to explore some of its incredible sights. Admire the amazing architectural monuments that defied the earthquake in Durbar Square, whose artistic and architectural legacy rivals the great cities of Europe. You can also escape some of the noise and visit the peaceful and beautifully restored Rana-era Garden of Dreams.

Day 3Shopping and Dinner

With so much to see and do in Kathmandu, take another day to explore the area. It is definitely worth taking some time to go shopping in Thamel which offers the best collection of shops in the whole country. Selling everything from Kashmiri carpets to trekking poles and yak milk, it is certainly worth leaving some extra room in your suitcase to take back some gifts for people back home.

Once you’ve shopped until your feet hurt, why not spend the evening eating in one of the cities classiest Newari restaurants. Dine on momos (dumplings) and wild boar to the beat of madal drunks and bansari flutes.

Day 4Day Trip to Bhaktapur

Catch a local bus or taxi to Bhaktapur and spend the day exploring this well-preserved medieval town. Some of the key sights to see here are the Golden Gate, Nyatapola Temple, Bhairabnath Temple, Potters’ Square and the National Art Gallery.

Day 5Day Trip to the Unesco World Heritage Site of Swayambhunath

The Swayambhunath Stupa is definitely worth seeing while you’re in Kathmandu. This incredible monument can be found west of the city and is one of the crowning glories of Kathmandu Valley architecture. This perfectly proportioned monument rises through a whitewashed dome to a gilded spire, from where four faces of the Buddha stare out across the valley.

Day 6Helicopter Flight over Mt Everest

We’re ending the holiday with a bang with an incredible helicopter flight over Mt Everest so you can witness the beauty of the world’s highest mountain. You will also get fantastic views of the Himalayas, Lhotse, Makalu and more.

Day 7Fly back to UK

Time to leave the kingdom of Nepal with a heavy heart and fly back to the UK
